Hi,

I have an LG OLED TV (B4) and a home network consisting of the main Wi‑Fi 7 hub plus two mesh extenders. When selecting Wi‑Fi networks on the TV, I see:

HOMEWIFI DFS appearing multiple times

HOMEWIFI 2.4G appearing twice

I can also see neighbouring 5 GHz networks from other providers (Sky, etc.), but I cannot see my own 5 GHz network separately.

When connecting to either of the 2.4 GHz networks, the speeds are very low — around 50–70 Mbps. The LG TV supports Wi‑Fi 5, so I would expect speeds of 433–867 Mbps theoretically, or realistically around 200–300 Mbps.

I want to avoid using wired Ethernet because the TV’s LAN port is limited to 10/100 Mbps.

Can you advise how to:

Ensure the TV connects to the 5 GHz band only

Make the 5 GHz network visible and selectable on the LG TV

Thanks in advance for your help.

i understand unfortunately most LG OLED tvs use a 10/100 RJ45 port, i dont want to cap out at 100Mbps, I want to access the 5GHz network and get faster speeds.

Normal EE router SSIDs don't have GHz in their names.

What means "band-steered"? EE router SSIDs are absolutely independent GHz bands.

The only way to do this is only using 5ghz on your main ssid sand then switching on compatible Legacy WiFi that handles 2.4ghz and using two seperate ssid for both HomeWifI_5G and HomeWiFi
