I recently migrated from BT to EE for broadband, took the 900Mbps package with the Smart hub Pro router, and have had way too many issues.

The one that's really annoying me, and only started with the smart hub Pro, is my Sky stream now telling me that I have 'No WIFI' every single time I turn it on despite using ethernet. If I press on network settings it already says 'connected' and either pressing the return or home buttons takes me to the home page. I have WIFI switched off on it and settings are all as they were before I changed router. I've tried a full reset on the device and is still the same. Others have reported similar issues, and if they mention ISP it always seems to be EE, often with mention of having a new router (posts since tail end of 2024 onwards).

Other issues I've only started having since the move to EE with the new router is an ipad pro 9.7" (dual band) losing the internet connection after a short period of inactivity. The network still shows connected but only switching wifi off and back on again reconnects the internet. I've tried using the (comp) network and it's still the same. No other setting changes on the device help (private wifi etc). Annoying.

The other one is my two smart sockets for lighting that I've never had any bother with continuing to drop connection and having to be paired again, regardless of whether using the main or comp network, or even switching off the 2.4ghz band on either of them. We get up in the morning and the lights have been on all night. Fingers crossed, but after a router reboot (one of several since day one) they seem to be behaving for now.

I've never in my life had so many problems when moving ISP or changing equipment. What's going on ?

Your smart socket's are they wifi 5 5Ghz band because most are wifi 4 2.4Ghz band only as IOT devices, but newer may have moved on spec wise!

When everything on the EE Pro goes oops, full factory reset seems to be the get out off jail card don't pass go or collect the $200.

Your IPad more than likely WPA3 so it should be happy with that setting on the main network.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, the comp network was by default Wpa2-psk. I checked in router settings. Same as previous router, but they continued to drop out connected to that. They would never connect to the hub's 2.4ghz band, and always trying to connect to the Smart wifi extender. When they did, they would eventually drop out. After the reboot they finally connected to the hub and seem solid for now. Strange thing is that I'd already tried rebooting and that failed previously. They're 2.4ghz.

As for the Sky stream puck, WIFI is definitely switched off. Everything set up as it was with the BT router.

What is the delay problem ? I haven't heard about that. Other pucks around the house connect via powerline adaptors or a switch connected via a MOCA system utilising coax cables. They don't give me the no wifi warning.

I had the same issue and the advisor on Sky suggested the devices were connecting to 5ghz which was causing the connection to be unstable which when checking the panel was correct. I Ethernet wired it and fine. No issues (WiFi turned off)

I know the solution has been solved just adding in my side

My Sky Stream was never dropping out as such, and I used ethernet from day one, not wifi. That’s what was so strange about the ‘No wifi’ message every time I turned it back on, especially when it would connect immediately at that point.

My work around has been to connect my Sky Stream to the router via an ethernet switch.

The Smart Life sockets have been solid ever since I rebooted my router a couple of times.

That’s a great idea!

My issue is my router is by my front door/hall and need to run my sky stream from the WiFi extender 6 via Ethernet I would need a 30 metre cable to wire to my hub. Even my hybrid connect is WiFi connected as the signal is poor near the router!

Ah right, that’s annoying. Maybe you could run a single ADSL or WAN cable (depending on your set up) to your living room ? Tack it above skirting boards.

I did that before back in the old days on talk talk. I’m waiting for full fibre (I still only get up to 73.6mb on part fibre) which has been installed in some parts of my area and they are building now. Will make a great diff. EE used to give me 300mb g fast but that’s all been stopped now and I only get FTTC and no g fast option.

Full fibre was a game changer for me. We were right at the end of the line and the attenuation was terrible. We were barely getting 10mbps made worse by the fact that a mature tree line prevented line of sight with the satellite for tv.

You’ll love full fibre. Maybe see if they could re-route the fibre to get it straight into your living room and will let you use ethernet in there at least.

I hope to move to an area with it already installed (the lines at least) as I doubt openreach will get these flats done next year and we don’t have city fibre or hey broadband in the area (not in my part anyway). I did like gfast, but that come with drops which isn’t great for a smart home. Dropping from 300-150-67 ish is hard work with the same smart home!
