We had our hall decorated this week and at some stage our WiFi router has been only flashing orange.

Have done hard reset... turned off and on... spoke to EE guide who said line into house looks fine so need an engineer out.

Have a 11 year old dying to watch international rugby match tonight though! Any other tricks worth trying? Is it worth buying a new dsl cable?

Flashing Orange would indicate your router is not connected to BB. Your decorations must have disturbed or broken the DSL cable between the phone socket & the router.
