Since the recent firmware update r3.8.24-R-1531355-PROD-1 Windows in now seeing my Smart Hub Pro as an OpenWrt router and Norton is suggesting I turn on my VPN due to security risks of the OpenWrt router. Is this anything to be concerned about?

I'd be very surprised if it is. My money would be on something to do with UPnP, which now appears to be working on the Pro following this latest update.

I have fairly jaded opinions when it comes to security software like Norton, and rarely put a lot of faith in what it's telling people.

Do you have any screenshots? Is there anything that expands/provides more detail on what it's actually grumbling about?

The BT/EE firmware is built on OpenWrt so that aspect isn't too concerning.

It was intentionally introduced in a recent firmware update and detailed here.

I suggested why this might have only just started happening in my last reply to this thread. Whatever the reason for it only just cropping up, it should be of little concern. OpenWRT is the open source software that the EE router firmware is seemingly built on. What problem is it causing you?

Does anybody have any screenshots of what Norton is is saying/doing? Difficult to comment on this one without knowing why Norton thinks the network is compromised. I'm pretty certain it won't be and it's likely Norton playing silly b*ggers; fairly easy to find other evidence of the behaviour out on the Internet e.g. here.

Did not adequately express myself there.

I know techend do not post here. I meant to say it would be good if EE messaged/informed customers that these issues had been recognized and were being acted up on .

@bobpullen did ease my paranoia.

Although relatively tech savvy I do not tend to tinker with things until they appear to me as a problem or issue.
All 3 of the things seem to have appeared (for me) in a relatively short space of time (one after the other) and I do not always know where to find the solution/answer - so I look for one.

I found a whole raft of things but today your response has been the only one that definitively reassured me that though annoying, the 3 issues are occurring for others and not the result of actions taken by myself.
I should refer to this community more often and I thank you for your response.
