Porting EE Home number to Voip provider will cease broardband

Hey,

I wish to port my home number to a voip provider, they have informed me that this will cease my broardband connection do they mean just for the day or forever?

That would cancel your broadband & phone contract on the day the transfer takes place. Although you could probably commit to a new contract with no landline with BT/EE or anyone else.

If you are still within your contract period there could be some fees to pay.

I switched to another ISP that didn't use the OpenReach network and once that was running successfully I ported my number to a VOIP provider that cancelled my EE contract totally.

@FAM0422UK if your current phone service is still via your phone line (not via the router) then yes it will cancel the broadband service. However if you are already on EE's digital voice you should be OK.

You could get EE to change your line to broadband only, then you would have 30 days for your VOIP supplier to pick up your number before it gets lost/returned to the original range holder.
