When I select already a BT customer the only option is £75.81 unable to get a straight answer with online chat or phone call

When does your minimum term end with BT?

The move to recontract from BT to EE, while possible within your minimum term without having to pay any early termination fees, means you must maintain the same or higher cost when switching - they are not just going to write off your current contract that you have committed to.

This is the exact same as if you agreed to a package on BT and halfway through it said you want to cut what you pay in half - it can't be done as you have agreed to the terms.

If you instead wait until the end of your minimum term with BT (last 30-90 days), you would be able to get the kind of prices you have seen (depending on what is available at that time) as you have served out the agreement and would have a free choice of packages. If you are in this period or outside of your minimum term and are still restricted to All Rounder or Full Works packages, you may need to contact BT and ask them about packages on EE.

Its also likely the packages you are comparing are not exactly like-for-like. There are two aspects to this:

Speed Tier (such as Fibre 36 up to Full Fibre 900)

Additional features you may currently have if on a BT Halo package, which are not found on an Essentials package - these are only available on All Rounder or Full Works packages which are what you were likely quoted for. All Rounder would be roughly the BT Halo 3 equivalent, and Full Works the Halo 3+ equivalent.

The comparison of Essentials, All Rounder and Full Works packages can be found here: https://ee.co.uk/content/dam/help/terms-and-conditions/broadband/plans/ee-essentials-all-rounder-and-full-works-broadband-plans.pdf

Basically when switching from BT to EE while you are still within your min. contract term with BT, you are not a new cust to the BT Group & so can only move to an equal or higher priced plan. What are you currently paying with BT?

I was switching to a non-OR ISO so got that running for a few days (at 500mbps up & down) and then ported my phone - only using voicemail though - to a VOIP provider that cancelled my EE broadband & phone. Couldn't really have been smoother. Saved a nice bit of money as well.

Why I left was because I'd been switched from BT to EE without my agreement or knowledge so I felt the need to leave.

I recently had a similar experience switching to A&A, all went smoothly.

Which router did you get from the new ISP. was it a Linksys - WiFi 6 or 7? Seems many of the alnets use the same type with plenty available in online auction sites, which are easily setup to create a useful home mesh system.
