Hi,

I'm on Fibre Max 300, but super desperate to get away and onto fttp which is jusssst around the corner.

Currently gets 126Mbit which is fair bit under the minimum. It's had an increasing SNR since progressive speed drops began, and my noticing had me wondering about firmware efficacy, which led me here.

Direct Cat6e cable into the white EE Smart router.

2 years in firmware terms seems pretty old to me, and I'm from an ISP support background so I'm fairly familiar with that topic.

@dacarlo : The white EE Smart Router is v. old & I doubt EE has updated its f/ware for ages. They no longer sell G.Fast.

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.

@dacarlo Have you reported it to EE or are they just not interested in having OR look at G.Fast speed's to get the line operating better or even trying a new hub if that is having a problem getting up there, what kind off Max speed where you getting on a good day with G.Fast?

FW updates why would you think they need updated on such a well established old device like you have!

For the fault they're sending a BT engineer as they took the increase in noise and decrease in speeds over 6 weeks to be a clear issue. Fingers crossed its an easy fix! On a good day I'd get 220Mbps judging from the synch logs going back to Jan. I'm not far from the exchange.

FTTP might be coming soon as BT engineers were faffing about with stuff about...oooh about 6 weeks ago I'd say 😉

FTTP is not there yet but see what Openreach Fibre Checker has to say about it.

@dacarlo You must be within the 100M range but pushing up the max closer is way better, and the less on the cable back the easier it is to get the speed up. At 220Mb/s pretty damn good for G.Fast connection!

Fixed by BT today. They had to change the pair, presumably at the green box at the end of the road.

Was

DSL Link Up: Down Rate=126080kbps Up Rate=40589kbps; SNR Margin Down=13.0dB Up=3.2dB

Now

DSL Link Up: Down Rate=212752kbps, Up Rate=40999kbps; SNR Margin Down=3.8dB, Up=3.1dB

@dacarlo Way better download noise margin, and correct would be down at your street level green box!
