Hello

I am just about to move to ee full fibre gigabit from Virginmedia. I take delivery of the Smart hub plus this week and the engineer is coming to install the full fibre cabling next Monday. Ours is a largeish Victorian house with a number of wi fi deadspots and so I’ve bought a Tp-link 3-node 6E mesh system (for future-proofing).

My question is, given that I understand there is no modem-only mode for the Smart hub plus, is my best bet to turn off wireless, plug the first node into an ethernet port on the hub and go from there?

As @XRaySpeX says its entirely possible.

As a Virgin customer using Modem Mode the WAN interface on the DECO will currently be using DHCP which pretty much configures all that part for you, so itll be this setting you need to change to PPPOE and enter the PPPOE credentials:

Username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com
Password: BT

One of the best things about maintaining your own router is that you can move from ISP to ISP without having to reconfigure any of the things youve spent time on configuring over the contract term.

You just need to be on the Deco's network and you can use the app to do it.
