WiFi Smart Hub Pro on non fibre 1.6 deals

Hi All,

I'm currently on an EE FTTP 900 connection, but the wifi coverage is poor, my house is solid brick and my current BT discs are dying - does anyone know if I can purchase a smart hub pro 7 and replace my smarthub 6?

I'M also waiting for a new power brick as my hub is the victim of whatever is going on with the smart hub 6's at the moment so this would be a good time to get a 7. Thanks

You can order as an extra the EE SH Pro for £7 pm on a 24 month contract.

@XRaySpeX I am sure when I last checked Extender is now 10pcm and Pro (WIFI 7) is now £12pcm

Yes, I did the same. Roughly £40 on ebay for the smart hub pro and £50 per mesh wifi 7 repeater. They work out the box and will save you the monthly charges. The wifi 7 seems much stronger compared to the old kit with faster wifi pushed further around the house. It's a really affordable way to build a wifi 7 mesh network.

@Ewan15 : Yes, that would be correct when it includes Smart WiFi but I understood that just for the SH Pro alone would be £7 pm.

@Spartacus123 - if your house is solid brick then you’d be wise to be mindful of the fact the Pro devices use 6GHz for the hub <> extender communication. 6GHz is fast but it does not penetrate as well through walls etc. compared to the extenders from previous hubs.

I did it the same way and only issue i have is the app shows my hub and extender as a Smart Hub Plus not a Pro including the pictures but everything else works fine ( Groups / Parental Controls ) and shows correct firmware etc.

@mikefairgrieve Thanks thought that may be the case, the Plus and the Pro are following each other fairly closely feature for feature so the FW and the App are going to be real close with each other, not able to work out which is which picture wise good chance then that is held external to the Router and on an EE Server!

@JimM11 The app until recently acknowledged that your device was the Smart Hub Pro in the section that tells you about your device and firmware version. Until very recently it said About your Smart Hub Pro, now it says About your Smart Hub Plus. However the firmware version is correct for the device you have (in my case the Pro, sourced from a third party). I can also confirm that the firmware updated when it was released around February, on both the Pro and it's extender.

I have experienced no issues on the 900mbs package, other that it is very sensitive to network cable quality.

@Ewan15 Thanks for your reply was trying hard not too draw to much attention to it all! The 2.5Gb/s nic interface's can sometimes be that way when timing becomes that bit more critical between devices, so everything needs to be done just to give the helping hand, thought i would have had some issues with the son's 10Gb/s interface but no turned out to be rock solid on both the 10 and the 2.5, must just have hit that lucky streak!

Just what I was hoping to hear, essetially I'm going to do the same as I've seen some new on ebay so was hoping they would essentially be plug and go! Annoying that you need to pay extra for them tbh but my BT discs that ave server me well for a VERY long time are now dying so it looks like I'm in for a fun filled weekend.

Pretty much yeah, set it up and tweaked via the app but added the extender via the web portal.
