I've used the RS700S and it works fine on EE 1.6Gbps. Fairly certain the Asus router will be the same. Haven't used that model personally but I have used other Asus kit without issues.

I have just bought a new house and am looking to potentially get the 1.6Gbps Full Fibre package. My question might be silly, but I would like to get a third-party router, the two I am looking at are either ROG Rapture GT-BE98 or Nighthawk RS700S.

My question is when I look at the setup guide and manuals for those routers, they all say to plug into a modem, and then when reading through Using and configuring a third-party router it states

EE compatible routers
make sure any equipment you're using will work on the EE Broadband network. The router must support Point-to-Point Protocol over ethernet (PPPoE), and if you plan to use it with our Fibre products then it will also need an integrated VDSL modem. Our Full Fibre products can be used with any PPPoE-capable router that has an ethernet WAN port and don’t require a modem

So I just want to make sure that I could use either of those third-party routers without the need for a modem. Hopefully the question makes sense?

Edit: I did see this in the Netgear setup:
NOTE: If your Internet connection does not require a modem, connect the
Ethernet cable going to your home to the yellow Internet port on the router

So i guess I just want to make sure I don't need a modem for this full fibre package, and I can connect that third-party router directly the the box on the wall. Is this the ONT box?

The ONT (the box on the internal wall) is the modem. Neither of these routers incorporate a modem themselves but should be connected on the WAN side by Ethernet to the ONT. You should be following the "Full Fibre" section of the "Third-party router settings".

Where that EE doc. mentions "Fibre" on its own it is referring to partial Fibre (FTTC) not Full Fibre (FTTP).
