Speeds Not Consistant.

Just moved into a new build which had Openreach fibre already installed.

Had a look around and decided on Essentials : Full Fibre 500 at a price i considered to be good.

The router took much longer to arrive that expected but it did arrive and was easy to install and set up.

Now comes the issue, the speeds are all over the place ranging from 75up / 40down to 410up / 70down using the same devices in the same places with no pattern to it at all. I`ve even tried moving them around the property but it`s the same results no matter where i try them ranging from ok-ish to excellent.

HP laptops are Windows 11 / Wi-Fi 6 capable and the Samsung phones are latest Andoid / Wi-Fi 6 capable, all devices are less than 12 months old.

Can anyone shed any light on this please ?

@Wooie1958 Are you doing this all as a wireless wi-fi speed test, and you have NO other wireless/wired devices on at the time when you are testing.

Yes, when i doing the speed test nothing else is using the wi-fi just the device i'm testing it on.

@Wooie1958 Then you need to do a wired Ethernet connection as your first point on the EE Router would also be advisable if you said what you have, router and any extenders involved! Got your gear info but nothing else, links below show you all the types! Have also kind off ignored your up/down as posted as NO way you are getting 410Mb/s up that's for sure!

Hi Jim,

I`m in the middle of moving in so i apologise for the late reply, there are not enough hours in the day.

The 410up / 70down in my first post was a typo, sorry it should have said 410down / 70up, sorry.

My router is the EE Smart Hub Plus, no extenders.

@Wooie1958 That's the problem with wireless wi-fi can go up and down all over the place, and an Ethernet test is the best way to establish what is going on, so again is there anyway that you can do so!

Wireless testing is always better to be within about 6 foot of the hub to get semi consistent reading.

Try a speedtest, preferably wired using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.
