I have used the same wifi SSID and password for decades by changing the configuration on all the routers I have had since the BT Voyager 2000. I recently cancelled an order to upgrade to FTTP and Digital Voice because I found a screenshot of an EE Smart-Hub menu page which implied that there is a minimum password length of 14 characters. Posts in this forum imply this is not so.

I have no idea why the security of my wifi access would be any business of a service provider, but can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether the SSID or minimum password length is restricted by EE?

On my Smart Hub Pro it tries to warn you if you set a password less than 16 characters but it does not stop you. Also for the SSID I just use Home which it happily accepts. However I did have issues with the compatible WiFi when trying to use an SSID with a hyphen in the name in that it kept giving me connected without internet warnings on my phone. I think the latter is a bug rather than a feature.

EE just will not help when you have a problem as they only support there range which you cannot fault them for that!

No problem at all if they provide a standard interface and make that information freely available. I am not so sure about using Digital Voice with a non-EE router, though. Anyway, it looks as if the Hub provided will make any such complications unnecessary. 🤞
