Broadband Router

I’m in the process of switching from BT full fibre to EE 1.6GB, install date is the 16th, Openreach engineer is coming to swap out the ONT box.

Just wondering if I should expect to receive my new EE router beforehand or if the engineer will be bringing it with him?

I’ve read in various places that sometimes the router is posted to you ready and sometimes the engineer brings it, so not sure which is correct?

OR engs don't carry EE routers. It should be posted you to be received a day or 2 before installation date.

Have you been told or stated in EE BB plan spec which EE router you'll be getting?

it should be the Pro or whatever it’s called, not the standard one.

Router and extender just turned up, so all set.

I assume there’s no reason I can’t just swap out my BT Smarthub 2 and discs now and use the new EE kit now?

Obviously won’t get the 1.6gb speed until the Openreach engineer comes out on Friday and swaps the ONT, but everything else should still work, right?

Also, with BT I’ve currently got 2 WiFi extender discs, we live in a maisonette, so technically 3 floors, so the extra disc is handy for getting a good signal to my ring doorbell.

How do I go about getting and extra WiFi extender, should I need one?

@Goooner1 As a basic router use should be fine, My BT app/EE app may have a good few issues for sure, Smart wireless yes, cover your important part, would do that so it hits the ring fine. Extra extender is a call and jump through all the hoops to get one and with an engineer visit to find out why!

Just set it up, couldn’t pair it with the app, maybe because EE broadband not live until Friday?

On my iPhone, sat about 3 feet from the BT smarthub 2, I used to get 3-400mb on Speedtest on a good day.

With the new EE hub, I’m getting pretty much my full 900mb.

Got the Extender set up, Ring doorbell seems fine. Wireless to my PC has now gone from a max of around 250mb with the old BT disc to 700-800mb and that’s just WiFi, so well pleased, even before my speed boost on Friday.

@Goooner1 Glad you are all up, please just do not think that Friday is the day, for all in sundry to work, takes day's for it all to gel together, just not an instant so patience is a virtue, and the app is the tester of that factor! The app is all intertwined with your account, your router and when Pluto align's with Mars...
