I live in rural East Devon. At home we enjoy an excellent full-fibre service but the mobile coverage is poor so we connect over WiFi. The recent storms severely disrupted mains power and we had one 12-hour blackout an a few shorter outages. I noted, on the EE website, that a Battery Back Up unit can be supplied by EE to vulnerable customers who rely on a Smart Hub and Digital Voice. I called the EE order line, and spoke to a helpful guide who told me that the device can be supplied (to non-vulnerable customers) for a one-off payment of £85.00. He was unable to provide any details, or direct me to anything by way of an on-line brochure. He suggested that the only way of getting more information would be by ordering the product. Anyone out there who can provide details of performance, capability or dimensions, please?

I bought one of these. Unfortunately, whilst having the correct voltage and amperage, none of the supplied cables fit the EE Smart Hub Pro.

Don't know if anyone has any experience of find ing the right cable?

Sorry, but I can't help. Further research indicated that the mains backup gadget gives about 2 hours service. Our outages this winter have been generally longer, so I've kicked this idea into the long grass.

So have you looked at a decent UPS. Nothing to do with my comment.

I’ve got one on our fridge/freezer that gives us 12 hours, so I’ve ordered one for my ONT/Router that will give the same.

Probably the best solution overall. Removes BT/EE from the equation.

Sorry but no. It’s 2.5mm but the internal dimensions aren’t the same, so it doesn’t fit!

Working on a UPS solution now.

Tony *****
************
