How can I get the new Smart Hub Pro? I want to be able to have wifi 7. My only option appears to be creating a new contract (I've just recently moved from BT) but I don't want to do that at the moment.

It can be added as an additional service for £10p/m, known as Smart WiFi Pro, if you are on a New EE Full Fibre connection of 150 Mbps or higher.

This will provide you with the Smart Hub Pro and a Smart Wifi Pro extender. You would then be able to request 2 additional units one at a time, if the initially provided extender did not offer sufficient coverage of the property according to the terms which I will link below.

You can read more in the terms and conditions here: https://ee.co.uk/help/terms-and-conditions/broadband/smart-wifi-terms-and-conditions

And the WiFi 7 info page here for features and specs: https://ee.co.uk/broadband/wifi-7

Just buy a third party system which will be much improved on the free isp router.

Thanks

Yes that's the issue, who would pay an extra tenner p?m for something that new customers get free? I'm assuming that's the case?

New Customers do not get it for free, only those on the 1.6Gb Busiest Home Bundle or Broadband Made for Gamers.

New Customers typically receive the EE Smart Hub Plus which is a WiFi 6 unit, however the performance differential with the BT Smart Hub 2 is negligible at most speeds up to around 500 Mbps.

Important to note you're not just paying for the Smart Hub Pro, you're also getting the Smart Wifi Pro extender devices as part of the additional service alongside it's £100 guarantee for speeds of 100 Mbps throughout the property.

Have a read of the T&Cs I linked to if you want to find out more.

Is that on an Essentials, All Rounder or Full Works plan?

That may explain the pricing differential.

For setting up your own router, you would just have to populate the PPPoE credentials that you can find here: https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/getting-started/using-and-configuring-a-third-party-router

Bear in mind EE cannot provide any support for your third party router, so if you have any issues with your connection you would need to plug back in the EE device if you need help.
