Migrated to EE Broadband, when will I get my new hub?

Recently migrated from BT FTTC to EE FTTC Service.
I’ve had the emails that the migration is complete, using my existing BT hub, and the service is live.

When will my new EE hub arrive?

@hostler Does it say on your EE Orders that you are getting new, BT to EE change over is keep using the BT Equipment if it is suitable.?

@hostler depending on the service you have, a new router is not normally provided, or needed if you have one of the recent BT Smart Hub2's. It works perfectly well.

I’m pretty sure it said I’d get a new router - I was keen to see if WiFi 6 was an improvement over WiFi 5.

Also pretty sure on the on screen receipt it said “delivery on 15th April” but now when I check via the order number, it has no mention of this.

Also can’t find any number to call, hence posting here.

Any idea where else I could check?

@hostler As advised looks like you are going to have to call in and speak to CS to find out, do not be surprised if they say that you have to keep what you have. Let us know how you get on though.

Update: So it turns out I’m NOT getting a new router as I thought. Customer migrating from BT FTTC services to EE retain the BT smart hub 2.

I was pretty sure when I placed the order I was to get a new EE smart hub plus, but it’s possible I was mistaken. I researched various options and was attracted to the EE router because it offers WiFi 6, over the BT hubs WiFi 5.

Apparently even if my hub developed a fault, I’d get a new BT hubs WiFi sent out.

So now looking at EE hubs for sale on eBay. Does anyone know if I buy one of those will it just work on a swapover?

I don’t have a voice line just FTTC over copper.

@hostler yes a Smart Hub plus will work, but there are two main versions, so make sure you get one with the DSL port.

That said, your speeds are restricted by your FTTC connection, adding WiFi 6 won't make it go any faster. It may make the connection speed between your decice and the router quicker iif the device has WiFi6.

@hostler Just make 100% sure it is the SH31B version, that is the one for use on fttc, it is also good for any fttc - fttp conversion later on.

Thanks! Yes, aware of the overall bottleneck being the FTTC speed. I currently get about 70% of the theoretical max speed via Speedtest, so hoping we might get slightly better via WiFi.

Also hoping the WiFi penetration will be better with 6 over 5. Speeds drop another 20% upstairs.

@hostler Unless you have devices that work better on wi-fi 6 compared to wi-fi 5 then do not expect miracles, if anything it goes the other way and older devices have way more problems getting on to the newer EE router, just use the compatible wi-fi feature if you hit problems. The speed uplift is very little between the 2, and with a fttc connection then that is all you get over the internet wise, but to a wi-fi 6 device it will be slightly quicker device to router.
