Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.

EE is not providing you with or guaranteeing speedtest speeds to your devices but the BB speed to your router.

If you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further. Do not restart your router to do these tests:

1. Post your full router stats:

For a SmartHub: login and go to Advanced Settings > Technical Log > Information. Obscure your names & any numbers in the BB Username & also the SSIDs. Also post the Home > Status page.

For a BrightBox: login and go to Advanced Settings > System > DSL Status. Also post 'System Uptime' from top of System Log page.

For other routers: login to it according to the label on it as the admin user & navigate looking for its router/connection statistics.

Full router stats are key to any speed & connection issues.

2. Try a speedtest, preferably wired using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.

3. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

@Bert25 While setting up a BT Smarthub2 for a friend few weeks back and he was waiting for the FF install did post up the router screens with the link below, from your posted pictures, do see that you have been upgraded FW wise same version that finally installed on that router also before i left, general observations he had the router out in the hall way sitting on the floor, blocked by a door so was not in the best place but that was where the OR Master socket was, found that my mobile had the tendency to jump onto the 2.4Ghz band but on a 40/10 split was not a problem as 40Mb/s was the max anyway and achieved by the device with no issue. Wi-Fi analyzer things that i did not like, where EE wifi / the wifix, both turned on, and i would look hard to get both off those turned off router wise but you need to go see how it is done.

There is a speed test on one off the pages you will see it also, so worth a go, the FW updates pretty sure are all to get the EE app side working with the BT Router and that does seem to be the case with you as appears to be working. Have a look to see what band the device you have is connecting to, and test wireless NO more than about 6 foot standing from the router, and ideally with all the other devices off wireless but that may not be possible.

Re: BT Smarthub2 on a FTTC 40/10 split. - The EE Community

Thanks @JimM11

Apologies I was reading on my phone and missed the link!

I wasn't aware about the public WiFi setting, how can I deactivate that? I click on the option but it takes me to the BT website. Is that something I can do myself or do I need to contact BT, it's a bit strange as I'm a EE customer now?

Thanks again!

@Bert25 It's a hangover from the BT Smarthub2, and a terrible option, have a look on the BT Forum for advice on what to do, there are 2 that i seen, EE WiFi and the BTx mode, both are transmitted on that particular router, you want to have them off, and you will not see them unless you have a wifi analyser installed on your phone, netspot is an app that will show you, just use the free version...

Turning them off YOUR ROUTER ONLY, you also DO NOT want it to effect your Mobile option just incase you wish to use Hotspot Feature when you are out and about. Link below explains the Hotspot.

Using WiFi Coverage Boost | Mobile Help | EE
