Ee smart hub router firmware hasnt been updated since november 2023

I would like to request a newer model router from ee. The ee smart hub (white) which I currently own was issued to me 4 years ago and has not received a firmware update since November 2023. I feel the lack of updates is causing a potential security risk to my network.

All this was brought to my attention a few months ago when the Internet started to working very slowly, pages were taking longer to load up, gaming online was extremely laggy. I logged on to the router settings and checked the Technical logs and noticed many pages of DDoS Port Scan/spoofing/loopback attacks all happening in large groups, attacking any IP/device that immediately connects to the network.

I have the latest Norton 360 antivirus software on all my devices which I pay for. I have changed passwords to the router but this has not been able to put a stop to it.

Since the newly connected devices are immediately being DDoS attacked this leads me to believe there is a network vulnerability. I understand the newer routers that ee offer, come with updated securities and are also regularly updated.

Please may I have a newer model router sent to me so that I can have the updated security features to help protect my network from current vulnerabilities.

@Dizcan37 this is not customer services, no one here has account access or knows who you are.

Whilst I doubt very much there is an issue with the security of your router, updates will have been pushed to it if/when needed.

When did you last take out a new contract? You can often a new router when doing so if newer ones are available, that said unless you have the equipment and devices that match the specs of the new router you will not see any improvement.

Have you done any other diagnostics, could it be yu have a line fault? Or simply have too many devices for a relatively slow line?

@Dizcan37 Have you tried calling EE CS and requesting an upgrade to your service, re contracting for another 24 months and to get the latest EE Router for the contract that you need?

Thank you for those contact informations.

I see the DDoS attacks from the router settings page. 192.168.1.254 > login > advanced > Technical logs.

From the >Event logs tab I am able to see the DDos attacks and times. From the >information tab I am able to see the latest firmware update, which was way back on November 1st 2023.

DDoS attacks are not random attacks. The logs state an attack on a device immediately after connecting to my network. My network is compromised. I have ran antivirus checks on my devices and a wifi scan but nothing malicious is showing.

I can only think of outdated firmware to be the issue with the network vulnerability.

Is the information I have posted in my opening message revealing compromising informations?

I just replied to your latest message stating things I have already made public, which is that the ddos information comes from the Technical logs on the ee router page. The reply I made was instantly deleted. I would like to know the reason why it was deleted. Am I revealing information I should not.

Sorry @Dizcan37 , but it is nothing to do with outdated firmware. The routers job is to defend against DDoS attacks, and they will continue with any router you have. They are a result of people looking for vulnerabilities and are monitoring the "Game" sites you connect to.

Am guessing this is the first time you have looked at the logs, but they are nothing to worry about.

But you mentiioned things were getting slower, which I would be more interested in.

My version is v0.05.03.03271-EE and hasn't been updated since Thu Nov 2 15:23:56 2023

Anyone know what versions exist for EE's router hardware and whether there's a way to check for CVE?
