I recently moved my Mums broadband over to EE/BT, part of the move was going from an analogue to digital land line.
where the line comes into the property it terminates into a double master socket in an upstairs bedroom. An open reach engineer has branched that off to a single master socket in the lounge.
When the line was analogue broadband and phone worked on the double socket upstairs. But only the phone worked in the single socket downstairs (even with a filter!

since moving over to digital the phone only works when plugged into the router and into the double master socket. I know the phone has to be plugged into the router on a digital line. But the master box downstairs no longer works at all. No even if I plugged the router in with filter.
my question is how can I get the single master box downstairs working and have a phone plugged in downstairs?

EE could arrange an Openreach engineer to do this for you, however you will likely be charged for doing so, last time I looked I think it was around £160. Or you may find someone advertising such services in local ads.

That's how it should be with Digital Voice. It does not come down thro' the standard phone sockets unless you do some wiring adaption by connecting them to the Phone socket on the router.

The double master socket upstairs is filtered so that the BB signal is not passed to any other sockets; only the voice signal is passed on but only for the old analogue landline.

The single phone socket in the lounge is not a master socket but a slave or extension socket for voice only, not for BB.
