The BT router worked so nicely and now forced to deal with the issues with the EE stuff. I have a Traeger grill/smoker which is controlled by an iPhone app. To do this, you need to pair the smoker with the app on your phone via the router WiFi. I had no trouble doing this with the BT hardware, but I've spent 4+ hours trouble shooting with the help of the Traeger tech support including manual reconfiguration of the EE router. The Traeger "sees" the network but will not verify and connect to it. I've tried turning off all the security I can find on the EE router and still cannot connect. I have to believe there are other Traeger owners who have been forced to switch to the EE hardware. If you are out there, please share your experience.

Try on the Advanced > Wireless Settings page to temporarily disable the 5 GHz WiFi band & move off the Smart channel while connecting problematic 2.4 GHz devices.

SmartHub SH32B: Not sure of the plan as my wife did the signup but it's
fiberoptic and includes digital phone capability. Have two extenders. So
far have done the following:

* Disabled 5GHz
* Setup guest network to use only for the Traeger grill
* Disabled firewall
* Disabled WPA security
* Tested signal strength with app suggested by Traeger
* Moved Extender to within 6 feet of the grill

Wondering if there is some other security which I've missed which is
preventing the connection. I had NO problems connecting to the network with
the previous BT hardware. I have the exact same grill smoker at my USA home
and it has connected without problem to a Google mesh network. I'm not too
pleased with the EE offering thus far.

With Warm Regards,

Paul, DMD, MS, FDS[RCSEd]

************
************

+44************ (home)

+44************ (mobile)

DO NOT rely on the extender getting out there, pretty sure the Guest network does NOT even work through the extender, that may help so best to keep on the main network.

Well.that may be a problem. There is no way I can move the primary router
closer to the grill. Houses in Wales are not "stick and sheetrock" like in
the USA. They are cinderblock and plaster (my terms) which are likely a bit
of an impediment when connecting WiFi. All I can do is assess signal
strength with the guest vs main network options and pick the strongest.
Really a PIA when I never had this problem with previous WiFi
connection/hardware.

When you get the EE hardware and accept their deal, you have to return the BT hardware in the mailing “trash bag” they provide or they make you pay again for not returning it. Not cool! Unfortunately, my Bride did all the upfront agreements and I’m just trying to deal with the fallout. 🙄😏

Had you waited then another story, and there can also be other reason's that it will not join the wi-fi, so down to the router again, your app and analyze what is the best signal at the smoker, then into the router and adjust settings, for me WPA2-Personal, Compatible wi-fi 5 mode, 5Ghz turned off, 2.4ghz fixed channel, all the time doing so SAVE as you go through it, router off, leave couple mins, router back on and as you have to use the IOS app try again and see what happens...
