Let me make it a bit clearer for you. My BT contract was up, they are ceasing providing Home broadband so I was pushed towards the EE switch. The upgrade to wifi 7, mobile contract benefits and other free add ons made the decision for me. Oh and I tried the WiFi plus kit first and the router was faulty as was the WiFi plus, so again it was suggested to go for the pro hub. The decision wasn't solely based on just my xbox but it appears to having the most difficulty, though there are still issues in that the WiFi propagation is not as good with the EE equipment, including the WiFi extenders. I have a need for those to provide full coverage of my house, the speeds I'm getting on device via WiFi is 800+ mb Vs 100mb on BT (500mb link) - so yeah I am getting near gigabit speeds, which the Xbox was achieving via the ethernet over WiFi backbone. Speed isn't the issue as such but latency, CGNAT and router firmware are thus so called EE built for gamers being nonsense. So, I could buy my own router and mesh system but why should I when that's a factored cost in the contract fee. I came on here looking for advice from those who are having the same problem (threads would suggest there are plenty of us) and to raise the issue to EE. If you don't have any helpful pointers then I suggest moving on....

Moved from BT and can't stand the app or inability to manage my own router.

I've got the WiFi 7 extenders too and they are flakey at best.

I'm having issues where I'm having to create firewall rules for my Xbox to get around the NAT issues but because it's connecting via an extender it doesn't get the static address assigned, even when connected ethernet.

What have people done to solve this? I'm constantly getting strict NAT issues and the WiFi pro extenders dropping

Which router do you have and which extenders.

Do you need to use the extenders with the new EE router.

Thanks

I could do that and get slower WiFi speeds, increased latency and so on...., but that's not the point right? If they are going to up sell you onto the newest router and away from BT (never had an issue over 10yrs) then it should actually work. Already had an engineer out to replace one extender as confirmed faulty.

Upsell is like selling sand to the Arabs, how and in what way were you connected before using the other older BT Equipment. At least whatever you had before was it working in a satisfactory condition for your gaming experience. Newer is not always better and introduces its own range of problems to be resolved.

What speed do you get through that combination. Both new and old if you do know.

The internal Wi-Fi adapter in the Xbox is low spec and very slow anyway - it cant even run Wi-Fi 6 at full speed. Better to run a cable if you can as the Ethernet port is much faster or connect to the router directly on a 2.4 ghz band if you need more range.

It's not about speed, I'm getting 2-450mb on the Xbox WiFi to the main hub depending on whether it connects 5 or 2.4ghz, which is perfectly fine with good latency figures. I've connected directly via a cable and still getting strict NAT problems....despite port forwarding and DMZ.
