Been with we since June, WiFi has been awful I get “300mbps to the router download speed” but it can’t run online on an Xbox. When I get hold of someone they ask me to buy a WiFi booster… although Xbox is about 10 steps away from the router…. What am I paying for?

Is the x-box connected to the EE Router wirelessly, and have you ever tried to connect by Ethernet cable to see if it works better that way?

Hi @Kieranc885

At that speed you should have no issues which points to something else likely it connects on 2.4. Unlike the PS5 i don't think you can force the Xbox to use 5 over 2.4.

What router do you have and have you checked your content settings.

As @JimM11 try connecting with an ethernet cable.

Thanks

To plug the Ethernet cable I would have to put a wire across my living room.

the wireless works fine for a few weeks then goes to be rubbish again

The broadband to the router is supposedly good which is the 300 mbps but when I test speeds wirelessly it runs at 36mbps

@Kieranc885 Which would suggest that the device that you are testing with has dropped onto the 2.4Ghz band and therefore that speed indicated will be close to right. If you have the ability to look at the router web interface, http://192.168.1.254 you can look at the main screen top right, click on the My Network and it will show you were the devices are connected too and also on which band.

An ethernet cable will give you 1000mbs and neglible lag with up to 100m length. It's hugely superior to any form of wifi. You can easily get a cable long enough to go around the outside of the room.

But if not, you could set up your WiFi to have different SSID names for 2.4 and 5Ghz frequencies, and connect the xbox to the 5Ghz SSID. This would prevent it from dropping to 2.4.
