EE Smart Hub vs. EE Smart Hub Plus vs. BT Smart Hub 2

So i've been with BT for over 2 years using their Smart Hub 2, but recently have agreed to switch over to EE broadband as part of the deal.
This is for 500mb fibre.

I noticed that the package included the new Smart Hub Plus, but when I enquired about (originally told I was keeping the Smart Hub 2) I have been sent the EE Smart Hub (was advised I would get a new BT Smart Hub 2).

What is the general advantages of having an EE Smart Hub Plus over a standard EE Smart Hub? Is the EE Smart Hub similar quality to the BT Smart Hub 2?

Have I been hoodwinked out of a better router than i've been given consider the EE Smart Hub Plus is more recent technology?

The EE SH+ supports WiFi-6. The EE SH & the BT SH 2 only support WiFi-5.

The EE SH (2023), which is not the SH+ but a predecessor, is a badged-engineered version of the BT SH 2.

Is that the only difference or can the EE Smart Hub Plus offer improvements over the EE Smart Hub in wifi-5?

The EE SH+ has a 2.5 Gigabit WAN, suitable for Full Fibre above 1 Gig. It also supports WPA3. There are other lesser diffs, like Guest networks.

OTOH there are features that at present have been configured out, like DNS, DDNS and Save & Restore.

My Smart Hub had a fault so a BT engineer was sent out & ran tests, repaired a small fault in the street but still my Smart Hub still wasn’t working so a new router has been sent to me. On the same day the new router arrived the Smart Hub just start3 working again without me touching anything. My question is as I have been sent a Smart Router which is white & my existing Smart Hub is black & now appears to be working, which is better the black Smart Hub or the white Smart Router? And if the old one is now working can I presume this must have been an external line fault somewhere that has now been rectified & should I just keep this? Thanks

@Slang it does sound like there was another line fault,.

The original Smart Hub is older than the white Smart Router, but with the Hub you can slit the WiFi bands, you can't on the Smart Router.

Also, keeping the Smart Hub means you don;t have to change any WiFi devices you may have attached.

@Slang : Which Smart Hub do you have (read its label)? There are at least 3, the original Smart Hub, the Smart Hub (2023) & the Smart Hub Plus, each newer & supposedly better. Which EE BB plan are you on including its speed?

It just says Smart Hub but is not in an easy place to read the back as the cables restrict me getting to it. I also can’t remember which plan I’m on but I know I have two bands to use.

@CJL8 Where you will really notice the difference between the Smart Hub Plus (Think of it as a Smart Hub 3) is your WIFI speed. On a 500mbps connection you will get this speed (in ideal conditions ) to your WIFI devices provided they can run at that speed.

For example on a 900mbps connection I get around 850mbps to my Pixel, whereas using a BT SH2 it was around 450mbps.

@Slang : The EE Smart Hub is much the same as the EE Smart Router except:

It is able to separate the WiFi bands' SSIDs which is invaluable for dealing with troublesome 2.4 GHz devices.
You can schedule Access Control from the router itself rather than using an app.
It has no G.Fast modem which I believe was the principle reason for bringing out the Smart Router. This won't affect you as you're not on G.Fast.
