EE sales team came around our block of flats to let us know there will be fibre optic connection to our building soon as now theres is only normal broadband available. Could you be able to let us know when the fibre optic connection to our building will happen?

Hi @Lynnninan @Matt_124

Depends on the age of the building. City fibre ran a cable into our building and then a connection to all the flats (above the door) daisy chain. From that into your flat. This was 2 years ago and BT won't offer any service until 2026.

Thanks

I'll admit I did slightly skim the post so missed where the OP enquired more about when the connection would be run to the building.

I took it as asking when their connection would be getting proactively upgraded by Openreach, which can happen, but it is usually much easier and faster to just place an order to prompt this sooner.

Normally with EE, Door to Door agents only go out when the area is FTTP ready and customers can place an order, and as part of this it would schedule the installation.

As a side note for anyone reading this later: There are very few EE-owned Field Sales teams, I believe most have been run by Money Expert so it wouldn't be surprising if they decided to go off-grid to a non-FTTP area for a few sales.

I been in touch with openreach for the past 2 years and it took so long to get all the signing offs from the housing association etc to get a survey done. My contact from open reach has confirmed that their build team are currently in talks to get fibre installed. The promotional guys came from EE/BT and confirmed that they have been specifically asked to come to our blocks to let us know about the upcoming fibre installations, but couldn't tell when. The maximum broadband speed we get at the moment is 6-8 mbps and our next door neighbour gets upto 1000 mpbs.

I thought someone from EE customer service might be able to check and contact me back as i dont know how to reach out to them directly through phone/email. According to what the openreach officer has informed me, all the surveys are done and the housing association has signed off the wayleave form. Now as you said its a waiting game. Hopefully the installation will happen quick. Im kind of done with slowest internet speed in the entire country.
