No Dial Tone whne connected via Device Adapter

Should there be a dial tone when an old phone handset is connected via a device adapter?

The handset has a dial tone when plugged into the socket at the back of the router, rings & works OK. When plugged into the device adapter it rings OK when tested via the admin SW for the router but has no dial tone. The adapter's green light is on and is only 5 metres from the router, so the wifi part of the link is OK.

Should be, esp. when it works from the router's phone socket. Should act the same.

@TIMBROOK66 The DVA does not work over the wifi but over the DECT frequency system but they are similar so that you know, and yes you should have a dial tone same as when plugged into the back of the router. Will post what the lights of the DVA are below.

What your Digital Voice

1 On initial plug in – flashes 0.5 seconds on,
2 seconds off
2 During registration – flashes quickly
0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off
3 Once registered – stays solid green
4 During a call – flashes slowly 1 second on,
1 second off

problem with your broadband – flashes

My BT Converse wired phone does, but the "walkabout" phone doesn't. Though haven't tried connecting that one direct, only to a phone adapter.

@Daveh46 : What do you mean by a "walkabout" phone? If you mean a cordless extension it's only "walkabout" when connected to a base station.
