Vodafone phone won't connect to EE Router

@MarkBee63 what phone does she have and what router are you trying to connect to?

What error messages are you getting?

It's an Android phone and she is trying to connect to router EE-QMC725. When she goes into Settings/Network on her phone. It says it has been saved but when she puts in the password on the router it won't connect to the IP address. My Vodafone phone, tablet and laptop all connected OK. There is an aqua light on the router. The official connection is not until the 11th November, but because we were with BT before, it seems all the other devices have connected OK. Just my wife phone that isn't connecting.

@MarkBee63 it would help to know the make/model of the phone?

You could try logging into the Hub Manager at http://192.168.1.254, navigating to Advanced Settings > Wireless and seeing if you have any luck using any of the other Wireless Modes that are available (you'll be prompted for the admin password that's printed on the removeable settings card).

Another option might be to navigate to the same page, disable the 5GHz network and save, try connecting the problematic phone, and then navigate bnack to the same page and re-enable the 5GHz network, hoping it stays connected.

Thanks. That's a 2.4GHZ only smartphone by the looks of things so my suggestion to try temporarily disabling the 5GHz band is worth trying 🤞

@MarkBee63 looking at the specs that phone uses very old (2009) WiFi 4 technology. If switching the 5Ghz channels off does not work, you could also try switching WiFi6 off. But maybe with Black Friday coming up, a more modern phone may be a better answer rather than compromising your other devices if it still does not work after switching the 5Ghz and WiFi 6 back on.

Thanks, where do I find that? I'm not very technical. Strange though how it worked fine with BT. Also, my wife has an old computer with a dongle and she can connect to the Hub with no problem.

@MarkBee63 I don;t have a new router, so you may need to look around on the router pages. But the general steps are.

Log into the router typing 192.168.1.254 use the admin username and password on the card on the back of the router.

Go to the advanced section, then WiFi where you will see options to toggle the 5Ghz channels and also the WiFi6 setting.
