This is the second hub from EE now that after a few weeks starts making a fizzling/hissing noise. It sound like an electricity current noise. The first hub was replaced by EE a few weeks ago but now this one has started making the same noise. Is this normal? Or have I had two dodgy hubs? Has anyone else had this happen to their hub and any answer as to why it was happening.

Modern electronics in routers or the power supplies can make noises some people can hear, others not notice. Placing an obstacle in front of the router can help, just try and make sure you choose something that does not block WiFi as well.

Changing WiFi settings may also help, depending on your router.

Hi @Pottermon,

We would need to look into this to see what's causing the noise. It's strange that you've had 2 separate devices. We'd need to work out why that's happening to you. There's a process that we need to follow to make sure that this goes through to the right team who would test the equipment and replace it also.

I'll send you a private message where you can reply back to my team, as Guides for EE, for help.

Thank you

I have the same issue. But don’t know if the sound is the same. It’s a high cycle noise. Very annoying and maintains after turning off. I presume a battery inside and this is making the noise which I deem to be irregular. I’m I’ll so when I get opportunity I will phone to revive a second hub

I am in the exact same position you are. Im I’ll and not home most of the time; I came home and a high pitch cycle noise was there. Very annoying and I did the same unplugged it, rebooted it, had re phone service check the line. But it persisted even unplugged for ages. Definitely a battery which the engineer said oh there isn’t one. There is as I’m an engineer. So he said he couldn’t hear it, out of his spectrum of hearing more like. So he said he would leave in his notes he’d request a new router, which I asked for from the start. Good luck with yours, seems a common thing

I have the same issue, my new hub started to make a very annoying sound as you described above. In my case I've noticed that the noise is intermittent and seems to correlate with the green light from the fibre wall socket. Does anyone know if this is dangerous, especially if you leave abroad for a few weeks?

Sorry to bump this but I have been hearing a similar thing on my Smart Hub 6 Plus as between that noise the hub has been power cycling itself

A very helpful Guide is sending a like for like replacement but is this a more widespread issue than I thought? Would it be better to throw a new Hub at it than use another similar one (from refurb stock I would guess now!) at the problem?

I'll know more tomorrow at least when a replacement arrives.
