FTP error - Unable to update website

Any suggestions please. For many years I have been updating a website I run 2 to 3 times a week. Last Tuesday it uploaded but when I tried again 2 days later I couldn't connect to the FTP. After several hours on the phone to IONOS the hosts and trying numerous things without luck, they decreed it must be something to do with broadband providers security. It's really difficult to speak to anyone at BT or EE with the knowledge to provide help. Many thanks.

Which router do you have?
