Google Nest Camera no longer connects

Hi, upgraded to EE with Smart Hub Plus. Since then my Google Nest Wired Outdoor Cam no longer works. I have factory reset, tried all Wi-Fi modes, moved it next to router, tried every setting, but the Nest device setup simply can't find it anymore. Any ideas? The Nest Doorbell and all my Google Home speakers work fine, just the camera!

Try on the Advanced > Wireless Settings page to temporarily disable the 5 GHz WiFi band & move off the Smart channel while connecting problematic 2.4 GHz devices.

Hi, thanks for responding so quickly. I tried that with no luck. Weirdly I have noticed before that not one device connects to the 5GHz band as in attached

not sure if that is relevant though!

@mrroach Was this Nest cam ever connected to another router with different ssid/password? Then if so you will have to reset it before attaching to the new router.

Hi, yes it was but have tried factory resetting the camera and before that using same SSID and password on the new router with no luck

@mrroach Did you remove the camera app wise before you started with the new router? And do you still have the old router?

When you factory reset, there are a few different methods depending on type etc and you are sure that it is done with the correct method.

If you look on the router manager do you see any indication that it is on any off the wireless bands? You picture is not cleared yet so cannot view it.

No I didn't remove from the App first, didn't realise Google products were so annoying when changing routers!

Can't see it on any other band, my 5GHz band never has any connections to it strangely

@mrroach When you are looking at the router, what is the WPA mode setting on it currently.

Cameras etc are getting very securely designed to stop people stealing them and trying to connect and be used again. May be the change of the router, but may be setting change required on the router to help.

@mrroach Ok that's a good start, would try Wireless mode down to wifi 5 and save, then go to turn off the 5Ghz signal then save, these are all just temp measures until you get the camera to pair, Reboot or restart the router whatever you prefer, then once its back on, takes about 5 minutes, see if you can get the camera to connect. Get back if this does not work.

OK I'll try that. Children currently on Roblox so not worth my life to temporarily disconnect at moment but will try later 👍🏻

@mrroach Once the camera is successfully factory reset, it has to be removed from the app, and then repaired to the new router, just watched a google camera video.

Yes I have seen the save however mine is removed from Google Home and Nest Apps. Awaiting feedback from Nest and will report back

Did you get any success as I have same problem with my camera and Nest Hub Max.... So annoying as some Google products connected and others have not...

I gave up to be honest. Got a cheap Nest Wifi Pro off eBay, threw out the EE router and plugged the Nest Wifi straight into the FTTP connection and plugged in the PPPoE username and password from the EE router. Everything worked straight away, Wifi is far more stable and all is good.

I know it's not technically a solution to the problem, but it solved the issue!
