Sim only deal 24month.. can i upgrade to a new phone for free?

I currently have a phone deal that is expiring in January with EE

I want a sim only deal with EE. but the only ones are 24 month.. can i upgrade in this 24month period to a new phone with EE for free

I don't think my current phone will last another 2 deals.. happy to sign a sim only deal if i can upgrade to a new phone with extra cost when i want to

Welcome to the community,

New phones do usually require a deposit and then a monthly charge for the contract. You can then pay the phone off on flex pay and have a sim only contract, so if you are happy with your plan, just change it to a sim only plan and take a look at the phones and pay on flex pay, either over two or three years or outright if you so wish, hope this helps.

The answer depends significantly whether you are on a traditional "all-in-one" plan, or a FlexPay where the airtime & device are separate.

If you are on a traditional phone-plan and move to a SIM-only plan, the minimum term only applies to remaining with EE. You can move back to a phone-plan at anytime.

If you're on a FlexPay plan, you will have 2 separate contracts each with their own payment. Your device repayment plan will cease when the fixed-term expires and the loan is repaid. The rolling airtime plan will continue, and thus be similar to a SIM-only.

Im on a traditional phone plan .. phone and data mins etc all together.. its running out.. i just want a sim deal because i like this phone.. but don't want to be able to upgrade to a new phone contract with ee when i want on the sim deal

In which case you have a free choice of SIM-only plans, with the option to move back to a phone-plan (or more likely a FlexPay) whenever you like, there is no lockout.

The minimum term only applies to your remaining with EE.
