Does changing your number start a new contract?

I've had my current EE contract for several years and as such, I don't get charged any roaming charges when I move abroad. I want to change my mobile number. If I do this, will this effectively create a new contract (thus inflicting roaming charges on me) or not?

Changing to a new number won't start a new contract, to change the number please call us on 150.
