topic False promises and no call back in Contracts & Billing

I was looking at leaving my contract (which runs out in March) and wanted some prices for that and to look into it. As I was looking into it, someone from an EE number (confirmed) called me and said "We can see you're looking at leaving us". Amazing how quickly they can do that. I was literally still on the page. Anyway, he then promised me that I could leave my contract early with no extra charges for being a loyal customer and if I switch to pay as you go, he can do it for £9 all in for a year. But because it was before my new bill, he would call me back on 2nd January to confirm. Obviously no call and i've been made out to be a liar! Anyone else have this? The call I received was from Brendon/Brandon. They're not responding to my complaint email either!

There isn't a yearly charge for PAYG. As its name implies you choose as & when to pay & how much. I suspect he is trying to switch you to a cheap 1-year contract.
