About upgrade fee

If I pay my upgrade fee and do I keep my phone or have to send it back to EE ? And what happen the upgrade fee do EE take off my money first or wait until when they shipping the phone out ? I m bit confuse , Would like to upgrade iPhone 15 Pro Max !

You can keep the phone if you upgrade and pay the early upgrade fee, this would be paid when the order is placed.

So that mean after placed ordered at the same time EE will take off the upgrade fee ? Pre order also same ? I thought it may after when placed ordered and when they delivery the phone then EE will take off early upgrade fee ?
