24 month sim only - can i upgrade to handset after a year?

My contract is coming to an end soon. I want to go sim only for a year and then potentially upgrade to the iphone 16 if its any good.

The sim only contract is like £15 for 24 months. If i decide i want to upgrade and include a handset in my contract (after only 12 months) can i do so with no complications?

Staying with EE for all of this.

@OllyMillMill After 12 months you can. That’s 12 months not 11 months and say 3 weeks.

The upgrade eligibility rules are set out on P5 of the SIM-only price guide PDF.

They state that anyone moving from a handset-plan to a SIM-only plan can move back to a handset-plan at any time.

The minimum term applies only to remaining connected to the EE network.
