I’ve been feeling exactly the same? I’ve been with EE since the days of Orange. I started with the old One2One network which should’ve been called One2None and coverage was pretty bad. Changed to Orange about 24 years ago and found the coverage was a lot better and the internet when it was 2G was quite fast. One year I took an old BT cell net contract out just to get a new Nokia phone but only used the sim if ram out of credit and the voicemail set up was rubbish and sometimes missed calls wouldn’t show up on phone till a few days later. When I finally moved to Orange contract at first thought their prices were much the same as the others, then a few years later maybe an extra £2-5 a month but didn’t mind as the coverage seemed the best back then and the 3G was quite fast. When 4G came out again the data speeds were really fast but since BT brought out EE, the price increases have jumped by a much more noticeable amount. But I’m due an upgrade now and was looking at the iPhone 14pro. The cheapest tariff I’ve seen was around £60 for just 5Gb. Although for 100gb it was between £65-£71 but then when you wonder why ones £6 more you realise that they have capped the 5G speed to just 100MBPS, I could get 500mbps on 4G. But I tried price comparison sites because in the past I could select to pay more upfront, I’d happily pay upto £200 of it could lower monthly costs by around £10 at least. But nope cheapest monthly price I think was around £60. On Vodafone you can get 350gb 5G data around £190 upfront cost for around £50 a month. If I keep on looking I could probably find even better deals. Also thinking of leaving EE broadband as it’s the basic copper line broadband as you can only get Virgin on fibre, but even for copper it’s only about 14mbps at best and we’re only 900metres from the exchange and the upload seems to be capped at 0.87mbps because we have had lots of power cuts with downstairs sockets tripping the speeds will drop, but if they’ve not tripped for a few months, the download speeds do improve, but despite the router showing that the upload speed has synced to usually 1160kbps and sometimes over 1220kbps, any speed tests I do the download can be between 11-15mbps but no matter what site I use the upload never goes above 0.87mbps. To watch a five min YouTube video in 1080p, if it’s around 6pm, it can take me around 10-15 mins to watch due to buffering. So I’d connect my iPhone and bridge the 4G with the ADSL connection and normally I can watch any 4k video with hardly any buffering but after 15mins I’ll get a text from EE saying I’ve hit 80% of my data allowance which is 105GB. I always used to think that paying a little more for a reliable and fast mobile service was worth it, but I think all the networks are going to be fairly reliable these days so paying an extra £10-30 a month just isn’t worth it. I actually hope that a lot of other customers do the same, then maybe in a couple of years EE realise they need to be more competitive with just the price and not just boosting speeds in the urban areas that are already quite fast.

Been with EE for my last 3 phones(6 years), upgraded either directly with ee or through a third party website as new customer.

Their network don’t seem to be on any comparison deal sites or third party sale sites any more. Went on to ee shop to upgrade but it seems extortionate now. Even tried new customer and couldn’t believe how much the new iPhone 13 mini is monthly.

EE are selling the iPhone 13 mini at £61 a month and that’s minimum data (2gb). Through third party websites you can get the iPhone 13 mini with pretty much every other company starting from £30 with 100gb data. So obviously I’ll be leaving but why aren’t they competing to get customers, it’s double the money. Nobody on live chat wanted to help either. What’s happened with EE, why are they driving customers away old and new?

Also you may want to check what you get from another company in comparison to EE. With the IPhone from EE you get visual voicemail, where others do not offer it, for instance. I would also make sure that where you are most likely to use the phone, you will get a good signal.

I'd just add that EE have never claimed to be a price-driven operator, but they do pride themselves on network quality and this is regularly reflected in benchmarking surveys.

That does mean that other operators will often give you a cheaper deal. Call into EE C/S and you may get an account-specific offer that suits you.

EE are expensive, but worth the premium if you want the best overall experience.

O2 speeds are disappointing compared to EE.

Three has subpar coverage. 5G is supposed to be decent though.

Vodafone is good, but is just as expensive. Plans appear cheaper until you realise they cap speeds unless you pay more for a 'Max' plan.

Most other network that operate on one of the four major networks miss out on features like eSim, WiFi calling and Visual Voicemail. I'm aware there are minor networks that do offer these features, but not all three.

I think I’ll just leave. EE doesn’t seem to make any effort to offer something for everyone. EE prices are double the cost of every other provider from what I can see, shopping around just now. I use a tiny amount of Data on my phone but you don’t seem to offer packages that reflect that. I have to pay an extortionate amount for little Data and a similar price for huge amounts of data, with very little reflection on cost. It’s not very tailored to the customer at all. If I could choose between an iPhone 13 Mini for £26 a month on O2 in comparison to what EE offers (around the £50-£70 mark, guess where I’ll be going in the middle of a financial crisis).

Looking for a new contract now, also been with EE for years, since they were Orange! I can't believe how expensive their 'best offers' are now, at least double what the competition offer, I will sadly be leaving EE as I just can't justify paying 100% for a comparable service, EE doesn't blow anyone else out the water.

Been with EE for 10 years. Tried to upgrade through the website and get a 404 page unavailable error. So I called 150 as so many suggest. 20 minutes and still on hold. If this is the customer service that people talk about being double the cost of other providers then I'm afraid I'm leaving. I have 3 contracts with EE and I'm sure Vodafone will be happy to take them on. Very disappointed with EE but that's a benefit of a free-market - at least I get to choose who values my custom.

I agree. EE seems to have become uncompetitive and are no more reliable than Vodaphone in my area but approximately twice the price. The standard - and complacent - answer is ring 150 and play the haggling game. Like most people I just want calls, texts and modest amount of data. When my contract is done, I’m off (and I’ve been with EE since the Orange days of 1999)

@bazza12 you’re also forgetting to say that tariff price is also more now and you’re also forgetting that you’ve jumped onto this as soon as the watch came available for pre-order. Always expect to pay a premium upfront cost when you order like that. And the cost difference between what you got and what you can get now for no upfront cost is just over £50 more with the tariff you got. And you got this because you wanted it ASAP and couldn’t wait for a few months. I also believe you get more data with your tariff than what’s offered with no upfront cost now.

You did work all that out before you made your comment?
