access charges how much???

Having just switched from Vodaphone owing to poor customer service I am a bit miffed to get billed for .73P a minute "access" charge for 084,087,09 and 118 numbers. For one thing it's a bit steep. For another I was given no warning about these charges before making the call (except maybe buried in the fine print). Shame on you EE, I thought you were better than Vodaphone

Your calls allowance is only for UK 01, 02 & 03 landlines & 07 UK mobiles.

The regime of 084 & 087 calls having access charges & service charges applies to all UK operators both fixed & mobile - and has done since 2015. See https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/advice/uk-calling & https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/billing-usage-and-top-up/call-text-and-data-charges/charges-for-calling-non-geographic-numbers

Many companies who used to use these expensive numbers have now migrated to 03-landline numbers, partly through legislation which prohibits the use of "service numbers" for post-sales queries.

If a company is using 084 or 087 numbers for pre-sales queries, then you could draw your own conclusions about their attitude to customer service.

@bristolian : Wrong! I wanted to say that but for Voda 0871 & 0118 are inclusive of allowance while 0845 is counted as premium. Check what you’ll be charged for out-of-plan calls, texts or services (in the UK) by Voda

Also on BT landlines 0870 & 0845 are inclusive of allowance.
