So I was told by an advisor to avoid bank charges to cancel my direct debit for this month so I have done this that's all fine what I'm wondering is does this permanently cancel the direct debit or just this month's as this month's has already been paid for for context I bank with Halifax I'm just wondering on the EE system it still says ¹1I have a direct debit with the correct details my question is will they try to take next month's bill as usual or will I need to set up another direct debit this shouldn't be the case as it's still on the system

You were ill-advised. When you cancel your DD you cancel it for good. EE will try to take your next bill from it & it will fail, marring your credit record & attracting a non-payment fee.

You should go into your MyEE & change your method of payment to a bank card or reinstate the DD.

So.i have been told by and advisor to wait two days and then once it has cancelled on their end just re enter my original details as this creates a new direct debit is this correct?

You won't be able to create a new DD mandate until the existing one has fully cancelled and your payment method is therefore not direct debit.

Cancelling a DD does not cancel your contract & it lays yourself open to being chased by debt collectors & marring your credit reference.
