End of 24 month sim contract

My SIM contract ends on 30th October 2026. I have a new phone and SIM plan from a different provider on order.

I tried calling EE yesterday to sort out making sure contract ends and doesn't go to a rolling contract and got told I was a day too early call tomorrow. So I tried again this morning. The initial adviser put me through to someone else. I told him the info again but I'm not sure if he was really listening to me , as it just felt like they were trying to find out price of my new phone contract maybe in the hope of offering me a deal. I asked for PAC code but got told that I can't get that until the 30th October. Does anyone know if you get an email or message confirming you want an end of contract as I have received nothing. Is it also correct that PAC code can't be obtained until contract ends. Many thanks

They shouldn't be insisting on exactly 30 days notice. You should be able to give your cancellation notice at least 30 days before you wish to terminate. It's usually taken as up to 45 days. Same goes for requesting PACs. But you don't give notice and request a PAC. It's 1 or t'other!

As you want to keep your number, text PAC to 65075. It will respond with your PAC & how much you will have to pay in Early Termination Fees if you are still within your min term. Give the PAC to new provider. This will have the effect of cancelling your EE contract but you may be liable to pay early termination fees. Best to do this in last few days of your contract term so you have little or no overlap.
