Hi @Ali_A. Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my message this morning. The Bill Date on my latest bill (i.e. for the last month of my 2-year contract) is 2nd September, not 10th September. However the amount due will be taken by direct debit on 10th September (as on the 10th of every month). Since I never incur out-of-allowance usage charges (Spend Cap £0), it surely means I should be fully paid up after the direct debit goes out?

I have only just read your message this evening but when I went into one of EE's main stores in London today, the Advisor and her manager both confirmed that after the direct debit goes out, I will have no termination fee to pay. Could you please confirm if they have given me the wrong information.

Hello. My current EE contract will end on 1 October and my final (24th) bill will be paid on 10 September. As I never incur out-of-allowance usage charges (Spend Cap £0), am I 'safe' to port my number to a new provider between mid-Sep and 1 Oct?

I will be going abroad on 5 Oct, so I'm really keen to get the transfer to the new provider completed before I leave and not have to do it over the weekend at the last minute.

How soon after you port does EE issue their final bill? And what kind of termination charge could be applied if you're fully paid up (and ported) before the last day of your 24-month contract?

I'd be very grateful for help with these questions.

Hi @Lupin1

You can find out more information about your final bill at Final bill and charges explained | EE

But from what you have said- your 10th Sept bill should cover you to the 9th October.
So your final bill will be a pro-ratad credit from the date you leave until the 9th October.

As your contract ends 1st October, If you leave before the 1st Oct, you will only be charged a termination fee to cover from the day you leave until the 1st Oct.
This should be be covered by the pro-rated refund you'll receive, and anything remaining will be refunded back to you.

Ali

Hi @Lupin1

There is always a final bill created after the contract which will show if there is a balance left to pay, or if you are owed a refund.

If you do cancel the contract before the final day of the 24 month plan, there would be an early termination charge showing, which is just simply the billing system picking up that there was time remaining when it was cancelled.

If you've already paid for that period on the September bill, it will have a refund for the extra period you've paid from the cancellation date showing as well, which would effectively cancel each other out.

The best thing we would suggest would be to leave any direct debit in place, as once the final bill is created, it will either take a balance that would be due, or make sure that any refund that is due can be issued back to the bank account.

We're not able to say exactly what charges or refunds would be applied as it will depend on factors such as the plan cost, the bill date and the date your plan is actually cancelled.

The link that @Ali_A mentioned above gives a breakdown of what does happen with your final bill.

Thank you very much @Michael_D. This does make things clear. As my 24th bill is dated 2nd Sep which covers me until 1st Oct, I understand now that after my direct debit goes out on 10th Sep (and with no out-of-allowance usage incurred), I am likely to get a small refund from EE if I get a PAC and port my number after mid-September. I will of course leave my direct debit in place.

I did read the link that @Ali_A mentioned (in fact before I contacted the EE Community about this matter) but I found it did not make the situation as clear as you have today. Thank you again.
