Had an email from EE telling me that my Visa card was out of date and to update my details.

That's correct I do have a new card.

How do I update my details for my direct debit. I can't see how you do it.

You don't! Your DD is based on on your bank a/c details, not on your bank card's details. When you bank issues you with a new card your bank a/c doesn't change & so there is no need to change your DD.

Just to clarify:

A bank a/c & DD are id'ed by Sort Code & 8-digit A/c no.
A bank card is id'ed by 16-digit Card no., Expiry date & Security code. Banks frequently reissue these.

Welcome to the EE Community and thanks for getting in touch.

As @XRaySpeX mentioned, we don't need any new details to continue with your direct debit, as your details stay the same when you get a new card.

If you'd like to update your details for a one off paymet, you can do that via your EE app or your online account.

I'd be cautious of any emails you receive asking you to update your details, as it may be a scam.

A few common signs to look out for:

Urgent wording like “your account will be closed today”
Asking you to update payment details via a link.
Email address looks slightly off (not ending in @ee.co.uk)
Spelling or formatting errors.

If you think an email is pretending to be EE:

Do not click any links or download attachments.
Forward the email to: phishing@ee.co.uk
