If you ex-partner is the account holder, then simply stop making payments and/or cancel the direct debit. The contractual payments are your ex-partner's issue, not yours.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The issue is, to be clear whose name the account is in and thus where the responsibility lies. If the account is in your ex-partner's name, there is nothing to transfer. If it's in your name, then you need to undertake a legal transfer of ownership with the consent of both donor &amp;amp; recipient.
