Upgrades from sim only deals and when I can get an upgrade

I have a sim only deal paying direct debit. Can anyone tell me when I can get an upgrade because it said I could get one then said I can't get one after clicking into it? Anyone help me with this

Did you join EE onto SIM-only, or move to it from a pay-monthly handset-based plan? This matters.

New connections onto SIM-only have a 6month lockout from upgrading to a handset-plan. Migrations to SIM-only from handset-plans don't.

Just to add to @bristolian's brilliant comments, is the SIM only that you're on a one month rolling SIM plan or a 24-month SIM plan?
