topic Anytime Upgrade - Non Return Fee in Contracts & Billing

Hi guys,

I’ve just upgraded my contract to a iPhone 17 Pro, but Im just curious on the Non return fee for my 16 Pro Max.

I upgrade the same way every year, and keep my old phone every year. This usually means I get a ‘Non Return fee’ placed onto my bill usually around October time.

Am I lead to believe that its different this year? Usually the fee is circa £500 but this time the terms state I’ll be charged ‘an early upgrade fee’. Not sure if thats been the wording used in previous years.

can someone shed light on this? Is it a fee as per previous years or something different now?

Hello @Equil.

Thanks for coming here.

The fee depends on how far into your current contract you are.

Could you please confirm how long you have remaining on your iPhone 16 Pro Max contract?

Hi Katie,

September 2026.
Is this a new change? And if so roughly when did this change come into effect? Or has the non-return fee always been based on remaining length of contract?

Cheers
