Hi,

The terms for my contract finished October 2024, I was on 12months £12 for 10gb (13.78 now with increases). I have just received a text saying as of August 21st I will be changing to a 30 day rolling contract, 25gb for £18, unless I click a link which will give me 50gb for £16 (24 month contract). I thought when the terms finished I had already gone on to a rolling 30 day contract. Is this a way of trying to get me to sign up for a 24 month contract? I don't use 25gb let alone 50gb. And there is a slightly better offer on the website, which isn't mentioned in the text (still a 24 month contract). When I message ee, the ai assistant, said my bill will stay the same,but that is not what the text implies.

Has anyone else had this? Just wondering if my bill will go up in August if I do nothing.

What you're describing is entirely normal. Telecoms contracts are not fixed-term ones that end, the natural consequence of that would be automatic disconnection on the 2year point. The complaint volumes & inconvenience would be horrendous.

Contracts are rolling ones with a minimum-term of 2years, and you've correctly identified that you will continue on the exact same terms you are now but with 30day notice can be given anytime. It sounds like you're being offered a few alternative plans, it's your choice whether those are worthwhile and/or suit your needs.

The ultimate choice has to be that of the account holder, and if nothing is requested, nothing will change.

My problem is the text states I will automatically change to 25gb for £18 in August, when I have not requested it, I am happy with my 10gb for now.

The text from EE implies that OP will not be rolling onto the normal unchanged cost 30-day notice basis contract.

Is the text genuine, what number was it sent from. Soundly like a phishing attempt especially if you have checked with EE although speaking to someone on 150 would be better.

That would address queries over the source of it as well as the wording.

I wasn't aware EE actually implemented this action but it seems so. To answer your question yes they can move you and increase the price as long as you're out of contract and they give you 30 days notice as per the EE Network T&C. You have four options:

Upgrade (do nothing or change your plan).
Speak to EE and establish if you can get a better deal or stay on your current plan.
Leave.
Move to EE PAYG (there are other restrictions if you choose this option).

I would suggest speaking to EE on 150.
