Once you leave, the final bill will get generated and EE will either take the money, or refund any credit. Leave your direct Debit in place until all this is sorted and it generally works out but it's when people think they owe nothing, cancel their DD, get a missed payment and then years of it being on their credit report that's when it all goes wrong.

Were you still within your min. contract term with EE when you ported to another network? If so, there would be no free port; you still have to pay off the remainder of the term.
