iPad Pro 10.5in wont keep connected to home wifi.

iPad keeps disconnecting from home wi-fi when I close it. 2 iPhones don't have this problem. It did not occur previously with BT, but now we are with EE Fibre it happens often enough to be annoying! What can I do to ensure constant connection?

Hi @Spyboy

If this is WiFi only then I do not think you can because this is a power saving option. The iphones are connected to the mobile network and will not disconnect as a result.

The WiFi network shouldn't make any difference.

Hi @ Northerner,

The problem is that the iPad disconnects from the home wi fi when it is closed. It did not do this with BT, we changed to EE last June.

It doesn't seem to be an Apple problem. I have reset EE Router, disconnected router, done the reset, turn wifi off & on, all the usual remedies, but the problem persists.

@Spyboy Try a network reset on the iPad. Then reconnect back up to the WiFi connection. And make sure you have auto join enabled for that WiFi network on the iPad. It will disconnect otherwise as it a power saver but will automatically join when you unlock the iPad. You need to click the blue I to select automatically join

@Chris_B Thank you for that. I understand about it being a power saver, but it doesn't auto reconnect with home network when it is unlocked. This was not the case when BT was the network provider, it always reconnected on unlocking..

I will try as you have suggested, I am sure we have done all of this including resetting router. Thanks for your help so far.

Did you ever find a solution to this. I switched to EE after being with Virgin Media for years. That whole time, my iPad pro worked without any issues. Since switching to EE in November, I can't go more than a couple of minutes without my iPad dropping connection.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your connection. Is this only happening with your tablet, or have you had issues with other devices?

Are you having trouble with your iPad dropping out on other WiFi connections?

It only happens with the iPad pro. As mentioned, I had no problem with the Virgin Media network I used to be on. I can take it to friends and family and it works fine. So far, it only keeps dropping on my own WiFi. I haven't managed to try it on a nother EE WiFi network, but currently, I cannot use my iPad at home do to this problem.

I've reset the internet settings on my iPad, the EE router has been rebooted too. But there just seems to be some sort of incompatibility between the EE router and the iPad.

I'd recommend reaching out to our broadband team, so they can look into why this is happening, and work to get this rectified for you.
