    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi, I recently received my new handset, and successfully ported my old number. Everything else is working fine, I have updated the new number in My Number, but it will not allow me to activate FaceTime or IMessage, have tried just about everything suggested online - reinserting SIM card, mobile data is enabled, resigning into my Apple ID, but every time it just says ‘Activation failed, an error occurred’ - completely fresh out of ideas. Thanks in advance for any suggestions&lt;/P&gt;</description>

You may also need to turn iMessage off and on again in Settings &amp;gt; Messages, verify your number is listed under "Send &amp;amp; Receive," and confirm your Apple ID is signed in.
