Bought an iPhone 16 Plus from Apple, it won't work with the Sim from my 13 Pro

As the subject says, I've just bought a replacement for my iPhone 13 Pro from the Apple Store (in person). I set up the phone using my old phone and the new phone won't allow for calls, or texts, or whatsapp messages, or downloading anything it essentially looks like it's bricked. There's no bars showing on it's screen. BUT when I put the sim back in my old phone it says that the sim has bee transferred to the new phone and it won't work in the old one. So what am I to do? Is it just a matter of getting a new sim card from the store and getting my number swapped over, or is there something wrong with how I've set things up?

A physical SIM can be swapped between working phones without issue.

Are you using an electronic or physical SIM?

@thegoodamy It sounds like when you setup the new phone you selected to transfer to the eSIM on that device. This has big issues as the transfer requires you to receive a text from EE to migrate to eSIM but the moment you do this your sim is cut off so you don’t receive that text to authorise the transfer to eSIM. You need to request a replacement sim either at an EE store and you’ll need in date photo ID with you or you can call customer support to request a replacement sim. Had you removed your sim first from the old device and put it in the new device this wouldn’t have happened.
