But all calls/texts are via the phone number in the phone.

Thanks for coming to the community.

@Chris_B is spot on, the paired plan would be the best option.

Is your wife's number on the same account as your phone and in your name? It is just to make sure you can get it added as a paired plan would need to be against the number it is being used with.

Wife has her own plan and account in her name.
I got her an SE watch a couple of years ago on a family member plan but not sure what to do on this one.
she currently connects via Bluetooth but wondered if there was a way to have it ring when she is called without having to have the phone present

I understand @Robsm2. If you are wanting your wife to have the full functionality then you would need to either buy this outright from Apple, and get a monthly add on of £7 for her account, or get the watch added to her account.

Good afternoon. I am in a exactly similar pickle in that I am wanting to get my wife the same but on my plan. However she will want it to be linked to her account (separate from mine) and her phone number. So would I be better off getting the unpaired plan?

Thanks in advance.

Hey there @Robsondollar.

Welcome to the EE Community 😁

This is a bit of a tough one, as in order to share her number the watch plan would need to be active on the same billing account.

If you were to get the Watch separately she could add it as a data plan to her account, but if you were to take this out on your account you could only go for the family option.

This would give her data to use on the watch, and calls would come through when paired via Bluetooth, but she couldn't receive calls when away from her phone.

Thanks very much for the reply. Much appreciated.

Apologies for being so out of touch but could you please tell me what the ‘family option’ is please?

Just to clarify if I was to get an ‘unpaired’ watch then it would be able to be used for data but only used for calls etc when connected via Bluetooth to her phone?

Thanks in advance.

Sent from my iPhone

That's no problem at all, @Robsondollar .

The family option is where we would have the watch set up on your contract, and this would have its own number and data allowance.

Your wife could still pair this to her iPhone and get calls through when in range of the watch, but if she were to move away from her phone, it wouldn't receive calls from her number.

It would still have data though, so she could still access the internet from the watch, just not take calls.

Thanks again. So I would be better opting for the unpaired option so she can just use it when near her phone?

Sent from my iPhone

Whilst she couldn't take calls on her number whilst away from the phone, it'd still work on the watches own number in case of emergencies, and be able to use data too.

I've got a cellular watch myself and it's so handy for streaming music whilst out on a run.
