Your Apple Watch will only work via bluetooth when abroad, so will need to be near your phone, if you do not have your phone with you, then it will not work.

@LPV01ts That’s because your only paying to roam with your phone, your watch is a separate contract to your phone and roaming isn’t available to watch contracts.
